A quick reality check before you read too much into those figures. The very top of this market, anything north of a few thousand dollars, is a thin and volatile market. Few copies change hands, so a single sale moves the number, and prices can swing hard. Treat the ceiling as a guide, not a quote, and lean on the price history graph on each card page rather than the headline figure. The rarities that drive value
One Piece packs a lot of value into a handful of rarity types, and knowing them tells you what you are actually paying for.
- Manga Rares. Cards printed with black-and-white manga-panel artwork instead of the usual color art, like this Roronoa Zoro from Wings of the Captain. They are the shortest pulls in the game and collectors love them, which is why they fill half of the table above.
- Secret Rares (SEC). The top standard rarity in a set, usually an alternate-art printing of a marquee character. The base SEC is valuable on its own, and its special versions climb much higher.
- Alternate-art parallels. A popular card can have several parallel printings at very different prices. The Wanted Poster version of Gear 5 Luffy, for example, trades in the hundreds while other versions of the same card run into the thousands.

Buying tips
- Match the exact printing. A single character can exist as a base card, an alternate art, a manga rare, and several event versions at wildly different prices. Check the printing code and the set on the listing so you are buying the one you mean to.
